Following revelations that they were unprepared for a zombie attack. Enthusiasts are planning to "attack" Leicester a week after the city council admitted it was unprepared for such an invasion.

Facebook Zombie Invasion Event
After a "concerned citizen" used a Freedom of Information request to ascertain what the council would do in the wake of an uprising of the undead James Dixon, 26 had the idea a for Saturday's event - organised on Facebook -  which was initially just a way to catch up with a few friends.

An undead horde of an estimed 200 "zombies" is now anticipated to attend Saturday's event.
The Freedom of Information request stated: "Having watched several films it is clear that preparation for such an event is poor and one that councils throughout the kingdom must prepare for."

After-apocalypse party
Mr Dixon commented: "I saw the story trending on Twitter and thought it was really funny that someone had FOI'd that information, and that the council had taken in it a quite a good-humoured way. "I jokingly tweeted that this is our chance to attack, which was quite well received."

Leicester City Council has not commented about how it will cope with the arrival of these walking dead and last week their head of information governance, Lynn Wyeth, said that the original Freedom of Information [FOI] request had made them laugh. "Everybody has their own interests and their own reasons for asking these questions," she said.

Mr Dixon has put some serious thought into organising the event, there is a "strictly zombie" dress code and more than likely an "after-apocalypse" party. "There's a pub that has offered the zombies refuge after our 'attack', so we'll probably do that," he said.

  1. I saw the original report on the BBC and thought it was great, wonder if other councils will be asked for their Zombie Apocalypse plans? I'd love to be there Saturday.

  2. Us too Phil!

We know of someone who once gave a copy of Max Brook's Zombie Survival Guide to an undisclosed city council's head of emergency planning. :)

Whether that authority has a zombie-attack plan is still unconfirmed.
